Mosquito Spraying Campaign

MAR is on the ground at the Domey Camp using vector control methods to reduce the impact of mosquitoes in this deprived area. Vector control methods focuses on utilizing preventative methods to control or eliminate vector populations.  Some common preventative measures we used in our spraying campaign include:

Habitat and environmental control

We helped limit the growth of mosquitoes by removing or destroying their breeding grounds such as stagnant water removal.

Chemical Control

We used repellents that were applied to homes both inside and outside to reduce incidence of insect bites and therefore infection. We were successful in spraying 500 homes in the camp and we note that usage of insecticides for vector control has been promoted by the World Health Organisation and has proven highly effective.
